Art Appreciation Day

The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square

The National Gallery showcases all 13- 19th century Western European paintings (with an exception of a Leonardo da Vinci drawing). We had a Blue Badge guide show us around the different rooms and tell about the history and artist of each painting. He was able to pick out subtle motifs or hidden messages in several paintings.

Pre-gallery ice cream: Christina, Emma, Kelsey, Ros, Muriel, Nicki

Most people tend to overlook the crabs (my favorite) in favor of the flowers... they didn't even have a crab postcard :(

van Gogh was a popular artist, along with the three Renaissance artists: Michelangelo, da Vinci, and Raphael. The above van Gogh paintings, along with more gallery information, can be found on the National Gallery website.

[I am going to try to find an online picture of another favorite painting... hang tight]
